I am always astounded at the depth I find in the word of God. Just imagine that the solution to a crisis in the desert with 3 million Israelites would be a picture referred to by Jesus generations later (John 3:14). The answer was to raise a brazen serpent on a pole and everyone bitten by the serpent would be healed when they looked upon the pole. Focusing on this object while facing the stench of death was no simple feat. Circumstances were crying out from every direction: You can’t make it, you can’t get to the place to focus on that brazen serpent, you’re time is up, it’s over!
