The present religious systems that fill the earth do not bring life. Religion is unattractive to the world because of its accumulation of rules, practices, and theories that have been added to the purity of God’s record left for us.
It’s like the Mississippi River. Where that river spills out into the Gulf of Mexico near New Orleans, no one would ever put a cup into the water to get a drink. You would see and taste the sludge. But if you went to the river’s headwaters up in Minnesota, you would find thirst-quenching, refreshing water. On its 2,000-mile journey, the river picks up all sorts of garbage.
In the same way, two thousand years of recorded history have added a great burden to the new believers of this generation. Let’s drink refreshing water that makes scripture come alive!
