WHERE ARE ALL THE CREATIVE PEOPLE?

Part 2 of the Power of Imagination Series

Have you been lied to? Or have you allowed the lies of the devil to influence your perspective of yourself?

I am continuing my series on the Power of Imagination. As new creations in Christ we have at hand or literally dwelling within us the creative power of the Creator of the Universe. All things are possible for us!  Creativity is not just how well you decorate or how well you dress. It’s not just an ability to write music or poetry. Creativity rests in the power of imagination and the ideas that are generated for your own good and the good of others.

Is it possible that someone has lied to you about your potential?

When I was in school I was told that I couldn’t write creatively.  My strength was math and I was not creative. When in fact, I thrive on creativity and math is the basis for all creative music. My teachers’ erroneous assumptions on more than one occasion rested in this statement, “Leslie, you’re good in math. Why don’t you stick with that? You’re not meant to write.” WOW! Those words plagued me for years and it is only in preaching the Gospel and learning to communicate with our partners that I have overcome that negative framing that was spoken into my world.

Kevin’s Catholic teacher (a nun) was convinced that Kevin had learning problems. I heard one of the most brilliant preachers that I know today relate how he was told by his teacher that he was stupid, just like his older brother. Another famous preacher shared how his mother said his brother was a genius with the IQ of Einstein.  When he asked about himself his mother said, “You’re just stupid.” All of these preachers rose above these lies to influence millions of people.

You and I can rise above it all!

Have you actually considered the power your words have to frame your world and the world of those around you?!

Let’s allow ourselves to dream and recognize that God does not limit us. Yes, He directs us and empowers us to fulfill His will and each one of us has a destiny.  BUT NEVER ALLOW the statements of teachers, friends, family and opposing forces to restrict you from being all that you can be!

You are a NEW CREATION IN CHRIST! Please note the similarity in these words: CREATor— CREATion—CREATe!

It’s all tied together because of HIM! Enjoy this week’s broadcast!
