Life in the Midst of Conflict

Last week we shared about Misha, who currently lives in Kyiv and is feeding thousands of refugees each week. Kirill, Misha’s father, is busy preparing to help the people of Russia as sanctions continue to affect the nation.

Several years ago Kevin declared to our missionary evangelists, “You could plant 100 mission bases across Eurasia.” At that time it might have seemed a strange thought, but Kirill and Olga grabbed ahold of the idea. In today’s current environment, facing COVID restrictions and struggling through an international conflict, the idea stands as a bright light beaming across the otherwise dark horizon.

In 2020 a decisive step moved the Moscow team leaders to launch a Rural Mission in Tver, Russia. Kirill did not fully understand what was happening at that time as he signed a regionally subsidized lease agreement for 25 hectares (62 acres) of land where a small barn has been built to house goats and sheep.

Kirill sent the following report this week, “Recently, 150 kg (330 lb) of potatoes for planting, as well as seeds for onions, carrots, pumpkins, zucchini, cucumbers and grains and other long-term storage products have been purchased.

We purchased 14 sheep along with the feed. Our first lamb has already been born. We have dairy goats that produce milk, yogurt, and cheese.

Thanks a lot to everyone who helped us do this. Now we have a good start for developing a sustainable mission and providing food. May God bless you and multiply what you have sown!”

The partners of Christian Adventures were an instrumental part of purchasing the small Russian home pictured above in January of this year, along with the goats, sheep, potatoes and feed purchased this month.

It’s time to plant crops both in Tver and at our Moscow Mission base! Also, we must remain in prayer for Kirill, Olga, Misha and Masha as they assist families on both sides of the conflict.
