Prosperity is a choice. The first choice you make to a continually prosperous life is the people you allow in your world.

The ungodly are those who have no moral code or fear of God. Their only guidance is what pleases them and gives them an advantage. They’ll give you shortcuts that look good but leave a bitter taste in your life, like biting into a shiny apple only to spit out a rotten core. You will prosper but it will be short lived and at the expense of others. It will cost your reputation; and in the long run all you really have is your reputation, so guard it with all your heart!

One of the greatest examples I saw in this area was a friend of mine who was offered a million dollars by his boss to cheat the other employees out of some benefits. He came to me for advice and I directed him to the book of Proverbs. “The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them” (Proverbs 11:13).

For several days I could see the agony of my friend’s soul as he wrestled between doing what was right and what was easy. He decided not to follow his boss’ proposition and was fired. This propelled him into a temporary downward spiral. He had to start over in his basement without the nice office, secretaries or cars.

Thirty days later an amazing event unfolded. The IRS closed in on his boss and put him in jail for tax evasion. Instead of going to jail with his boss, he was launched into one of the most influential positions in the car industry and is now a multimillionaire. There is a reward for doing the right thing in the right way!
