23 Nov HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Almost 400 years ago, during the fall months of 1621, a resilient band of Pilgrims and the native Wampanoag tribe gathered to celebrate the colony’s first successful harvest.
When that first thanksgiving meal was served by on the Eastern shores of America, the Pilgrims had already lost 50% of their settlement. 93 native Indians joined them in that meal where they gave thanks for the living. They took joy that they had survived the first harsh year.
Joy is that deep understanding of God’s reality in us. It is indeed “Joy to the World,” because a Savior is born. The world no longer has to live in darkness, fear of the unknown or guilt. A light has been shown. A destination for our journey revealed. A purpose discovered for the temporary visitors and sojourners on this earth.
We take joy this holiday season for reasons far beyond the circumstances, achievements or health that we have. We are joyfully thankful that we have had the opportunity to experience life with the Creator. WISHING YOU ALL A JOYFUL THANKSGIVING THIS SEASON!!
