01 Nov Ask!
November 2016
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, whatsoever you shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Hitherto have you asked nothing in my name: ask, and you shall receive, that your joy may be full” (John 16:23-24).
I love this Scripture. “Whatsoever you shall ask, God will give it to you.” Prayer is based on your desires and expectations. What do you expect from God? What do you want?
Imagine your child asking you to buy him or her some ice cream. What happens when you give your child an ice cream treat? They are so happy and so grateful—they eat it with such great pleasure! They have ice cream all over their face, their hands, and it’s dripping down their shirt, but your child is happy because they love that ice cream.
What do parents feel then? “My baby is so happy and grateful, I’ll buy him something yummy again.” Right?
Our heavenly Father wants us, His children, to rejoice in the same way a child rejoices when he receives something from his parents! He tells His children, “Hitherto have you asked nothing in my name: ask, and you shall receive, that your joy may be full.”
He says to us, “I want to bless you. I want to help you. All you need to do is ask Me.”
